Bruss, Bernice (Marriage - 28 June 1947)
Miss Bernice Bruss, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Bruss of Colby, and Clarence D. Faucher exchanged marriage vows in a double ring ceremony at Zion Ev. Lutheran church Saturday afternoon, June 28th, Rev. O. Hoffmann reading the marriage ceremony. Miss Viola March at the organ, played Lodengrin’s bridal chorus as the processional and Mendelsohn’s wedding march as the recessional. Various numbers were played before the processional. Miss Alma Tesmer sang "O Perfect Love" and "The Lord’s Prayer." Janice Panther of Marshfield, a friend of the bride, was maid of honor and Anita Bruss, the bride’s sister, was maid of honor. The groom was attended by Elroy Bruss, the bride’s brother, as best man and Earl Luchterhand of Granton, nephew of the groom, as usher.
The bride was attired in a white satin gown with sweetheart neckline and long train, long French illusion veil with lace. Her headdress was made of veiling and orange blossoms. For jewelry, she wore a pearl necklace. Her bouquet consisted of red roses, white carnations and swansonians. The maid of honor wore a dress of yellow marquisette over yellow rayon, headdress made of French illusion, veiling and lace, held in place with yellow rose buds. Her bouquet consisted of yellow roses and white carnations. The bridesmaid wore a dress similar to the maid of honor’s, similar headdress and similar bouquet. All the men wore white carnations as boutonnieres.
A reception was given at the home of the bride’s parents. Yellow and white streamers formed a canopy over the table. A wedding cake formed the centerpiece and white candles and red and white peonies graced the table. A five o’clock dinner was given at the church parlors, covers being laid for 40 guests. Decorations were the same as at the home.
The newlyweds left on a wedding trip to Northern Wisconsin and will be at home after July 7th at West Allis, Wis., where the groom is employed at the Allis Chalmer’s plant. The bride had been employed at Pucker’s news shop for six and one-half years. The groom spent three and one-half years in the U.S. air forces - 152nd Army Air Transport Command. Two and one-half years of his service were in Africa and Italy.
Friends and relatives attended the wedding from Milwaukee, West Allis, Lac de Flambeau, Granton, Marshfield, Spencer, Unity, Wisconsin Rapids and Auburndale. The out of state guests were Mr. and Mrs. Merrill Vanderburg of Phoenix, Arizona, Mrs. A. F. Beawer and Rhoda of Caldwell, Idaho, and Gladwin Bach of Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
